🤎 A plain brown dog? Wait until you meet Alfonzo.

At around 1½ years old, this mixed-breed boy has an amazing personality and so much love to give. He may not have flashy markings, but overlooking him would mean missing out on a wonderful companion.

Alfonzo has been with us a little longer because he tested positive for heartworms. His treatment is underway—he has received his first injection and has two more to go. We would love for him to spend his recovery in a loving home, with someone beside him, instead of waiting in a kennel.

For now, Alfonzo needs a quiet routine with rest and restricted activity while he goes through treatment and recovery. He gets along with dogs both big and small, but playtime and roughhousing will have to wait until he is cleared by the vet. Right now, he needs someone who can help him take it easy. 🤎

Kiya Koda will continue to pay for his heartworm treatment. His family will need to follow his treatment and rest instructions and keep him on lifelong heartworm prevention. Heartworms do not have to define his future—with successful treatment, dogs can go on to enjoy a normal lifespan.

Alfonzo is young, wonderful, and ready to be someone’s companion. He just needs a home willing to help him through this part of his journey.

Please fill out an adoption application on our website if you’d like to give Alfonzo the loving home he deserves.
